Chinese marinated crispy bacon

Marinated bacon bits
4 bacon strips (without rind)
1 tbsp light Chinese soy sauce
1 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp shaoxing rice wine (or dry sherry)
2 cloves of garlic (finely chopped)
1 shallot (chopped)
1 t sugar
2 cm grated ginger
1 t star anise
1 ½ t five spices
1 t djint
1 t chili powder
sea salt
peanut oil

Take bacon slices, put spices on them. Put sauce in a deep plate and put them in it. Leave covered in the refrigerator for several hours as this will allow those flavors to soak in. Put peanut oil in a non-stick pan. Quickly fry the bacon on both sides until crispy and brown and then let it stand for a while so that it cooks inside.

Deglaze with some extra Chinese rice wine and that’s it. You have now prepared Chinese marinated crispy bacon that tastes spicy and slightly sweet. Serve this side dish for example with nasi- or bami goreng or with stir-fried noodles. Simply delicious.
